This charming English Majolica pitcher dates from the late 19th century and is in good condition for its age. The pitcher measures 4 1/2 " tall and features a lovely red flower on each side set against a brown basket weave ground. Please be sure to look carefully at the pictures as I've tried to highlight the small flea bites along the rim as well as the slight, faint hairline crack. If you look at the leaves on each side of the pitcher, you will notice that on one side, the leaves are green and on the other side, they're brown! Very unusual. On one of the brown leaves, there appears to be a bit ofmissing color to the left of the flower (last picture). However, I have run my finger across this repeatedly and the more I look at it, the more I believe that it is just inherent to the glazing process and nothing more. A quirky but lovely addition to your Majolica collection!
