Elegant and delicate English porcelain coffee service, composed of 8 cups with saucer, a tray, a milk jug, and a sugar bowl; the cups are of medium size, therefore also suitable for tea; the sugar bowl is cup-shaped and very large, as usually in England, because it is suitable to contain sugar cubes; the decoration, with delicate blue color, represents soft and light ivy shoots; The bottom of the cups bears the manufacturer's brand name, the company Wileman & Co. founded in London in 1853 but which, since 1892, has operated in Fenton and Longton in Staffordshire (Fenton and Longton are two of the six communities that make up the city of Stoke-on-Trent); this mark indicates exactly that the year of production was 1892 (see page 672 of the Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks), on the cups you can also read the number 175636, which is the registration number of the design (see page 528 also on the Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks).
